Spring 2023 "Maracas" Collection
Your children will love the energy of this collection! Songs include "Al citrón," with the activity based on a traditional Latin American children's game and "Bout My Friends," sure to have everyone dancing to its funky blues.
Last time we had "Bout My Friends" class members submitted their dancing, walkin, kicking and jumping feet and we made a "Bout My Feet" video! Check out the cuteness!
'Bout My Feet
Each Music Together Song Collection contains 25+ songs, a mix of original and traditional tunes from a variety of genres and styles—folk, blues, rock, jazz, classical, and world music.
Angela and Jenny,
on the "Maracas Collection"
Listen to Music Together song clips from an album called Family Favorites 2. You'll hear "Wiggle" which is coming up in Maracas.
I have to claim "Jack be Nimble" as my favorite, because it is so silly and playful, and really gets everyone moving. "Dancing with Teddy" is another. It comes alive in the classroom as we all whirl and twirl with teddy bears in sync. The children love it. Lastly, I have to give a shout out to "Tsankonikos," a Greek folk song in 5/4. It is simply compelling to move to, and it is fun play with the meter using the instruments. We also play rhythm games like putting the "5" in a different spot, then the 4 and the 5. It is just the right amount of challenge to keep everyone engaged, learning and having fun.
Preview "Al Citron" from MARACAS
A favorite of mine is "Al Citron", which was new in 2020. Click the link and take a listen.
Last time through Maracas my kids helped to create and demonstrate some fun play activities with the songs from the collection using toys and objects families have at home. We saved these videos for you to use in your family music-making toolboxes at home and can’t wait to share the collection in person this Spring!
